Update (July 24, 5:42 p.m. ET): According to a Dexerto report published on July 24Valley resigned from CDL after controversy at Major 4 in New York. DBLTAP’s original story, posted on July 23, remains below.

Loviel “Valley” Cardwell has stepped down as table host in the Call of Duty League (CDL), the esports league announced Friday.

Neither Velly nor CDL made the final decision.

“This week, we officially accepted the resignation of Lovel ‘Valley’ Cardwell from the Call of Duty League,” CDL said in a statement. “We wish him the best in his future endeavours.”

With the field leaving two weeks before the start of the 2022 CDL Championship weekend, the league now has a talent gap that needs to be filled.

“No problem with me or CDL, just an FYI,” Valley tweeted on Friday. “I won’t be going to the champions and my year in the Call of Duty League is over. It was a year where I was able to really find myself, and for that I’m really grateful. The CoD family has the best fans .

“Don’t say anything negative about me and @CODLeague. They didn’t hurt me and treated me like royalty while I was there.

Valley originally joined the CDL broadcast talent roster at the start of the 2022 season for the Kickoff Classic, replacing 2020 and 2021 table runner Lottie Van-Praag.

Prior to hosting CDL, Valley played Gears of War 1 professionally before wearing a few hats as an analyst, commentator, and presenter for various esports titles including Valorant and Rainbow Six Siege.
