At the start of Season 4, Warzone released new gameplay changes. Many of these changes have received positive feedback, especially the new Fortune’s Keep map.
One change that didn’t receive positive feedback was the change to the boot system – in fact, it caused a flurry of complaints, especially in the controller community.
Players would choose a particular comp they wanted in the pre-game lobby, and when they interacted with a comp, their cursors would automatically scroll to that comp. The new change meant that when players interacted with a drop, their cursor would go to the top of the list instead of the previously selected gear.
Players were immediately frustrated because their muscle memory immediately picked up the load, even though their sliders weren’t on the specified load.
Despite the backlash, Warzone’s senior creative director Ted Timmons said players will “just need muscle memory to move”.
I promise this change is tantamount to removing the buy station confirmation interface. Remember how everyone bounced around buy stations for a week, but then it got better? It will be the same, you just need to modify the muscle memory. https://t.co/JHt0AtzJCt

In the comments, players voiced their complaints. One response pointed out that this new change will take time, needed when players fall into a contentious charge.
Another point that u/Putridzz mentioned on Reddit is that there are several different classes of players. You cannot intentionally define a class on top. Players make instant in-game decisions on which weapon set to choose.
Currently, the Warzone developers are unlikely to roll back the change.
