CoD: Vanguard Developer Confirms Penalties for Ranked Game Splitters –

Call of Duty: Vanguard Dev has confirmed a number of drastic changes that come into play in the ranked game now that players are liable for penalties when they leave matches and leave their teams at a disadvantage.

When playing a ranked game in CoD, it’s never fun to lose big in a match. And it’s even worse when you lose big and your teammates abandon you, putting you at an even greater disadvantage to turn things around. Fortunately, the game’s lead designer, Lawrence Metten, says COD is trying to reduce disconnecting players from ranked play by adding penalties to those who leave.

In response to a tweet asking about the status of penalties for players who left the game by joining the friends list, Metten wrote on Twitter: “Wait, penalties are coming. We are also considering an additional SR adjustment for players who we know intentionally left the game.”

This is great news for players who always hang in there when it comes to coming back in tough qualifying matches, and hopefully these performances inspire them to stay in matches, win or lose.

He also suggested that other changes could be made to how players win or lose when playing SR rated matches.

“We had great discussions on SR this week and we are looking for adjustments,” he said. “It’s an Elo-based system, so how much you win or lose is consistent with the abilities of other players in the match, and the system estimates you need to act.”

While it’s still too early for a ranked game in CoD: Vanguard, Treyarch is clearly looking for constant improvements, which is a good sign for the game mode.
