Warzone Season 4 introduces Caldera upgrades aimed at improving map reading with the release of Fortune’s Keep.
Caldera received a lackluster response from its fan base, mostly because players were annoyed that Verdunsky’s successor failed to live up to expectations. Maps are an important part of the success of the Battle Royale title, and Verdunsky was very popular. Although the map was not updated as fans wanted, they were unhappy with the direction of the map and unhappy with the caldera.
Activision aims to improve Caldera with three major updates in Season 4.
Battle Royale players – we heard you 🤝
Caldera includes several updates for the upcoming season:
📍 New micro POI and more flights
💰 Hidden Underground Rental Cellars
50% less vegetation and better visibility
🤔 Many more surprises in store pic.twitter.com/Ux3kR69RX3— Call of Duty (@CallofDuty) June 15, 2022
Three major updates were announced on the official Call of Duty Twitter account:
All three changes are aimed at improving the map’s quality of life and player experience. Caldera POIs don’t justify Verdunsk locations, and creating more regions for players with better loot should add variety.
It’s unclear exactly what the Mercenary Vaults contain, but they may act as Verdunski bunkers and are high-end heist sites for players to take advantage of.
Overall, the biggest change is halving vegetation and improving visibility. This was at the top of the list of player complaints and this change should have the biggest impact.
According to the announcement, Activision plans to announce more changes ahead of Season 4.
