According to a report from Bloomberg, Activision is delaying the release of Call of Duty to 2023, skipping the annual launch for nearly two decades.

“The company is releasing it after the series’ latest recording failed to meet expectations,” a report from Bloomberg said.
According to Bloomberg, the decision was also unrelated to the deal with Microsoft, and Treyarch’s next iteration in the series is slated for 2024.
Finally, Bloomberg reports that Activision is working on other projects to “fill the void” with a “steady stream of additional content” and “a new free online title” specifically for this year’s Modern Warfare 2 reboot.
