Raven Software Senior Game Designer Tully Ackland responded to a post about how the balanced close-range meta that makes many SMGs viable has become.
This gives players freedom and allows them to be creative with their favorite weapons. And according to the tweet, it won’t end with SMGs: “You’re going to love seeing this. The team is trying to replicate this in other classes and make the following weapons viable (e.g. we want to bring more Identity and Vitality to LMGs) – Lots to do!”
You like to see it. The team is working hard to replicate this in other classes and represent weapon viability (e.g. we want to give LMGs more identity and vitality) – there is so much to do! https://t.co/lR2azvBpgt

It’s no secret that the key to Warzone combat is mobility and close combat, you enter the wreckage from afar, but if you want to win a Warzone match you’ll need to dominate up close. That leaves the LMGs behind. Vehicles struggle to compete with SMGs and can’t handle the distance.
This must change as soon as possible! It might have to wait for the re-release of Warzone, or we might see it in the next patch. But regardless, Raven Software wants to make sure that all Warzone-class weapons are as competitive as SMGs.
