One of the biggest tricks in Season 14 was the addition of a laser target. Respawn Entertainment basically shut down all the SMG hype in Apex Legends and then introduced Laser Sight to appease fans. But the public quickly understood the figures.
All SMGs are much worse than last season and only really better with the purple laser sight. This means that the gray and blue laser sight added to your SMG is not even equal to the Season 13 stats.
This is where HammyA’s article comes in. It’s a hypothetical message asking if players are pinging or looking for laser sights. According to reviews, mostly no. Players talked about hip-fire accuracy and the desire to fully utilize other weapons. Some even state that they still prefer the muzzle attachment as it works perfectly with assault rifles.
Now, SMG players prefer to choose an Assault Rifle over an SMG. It will be interesting to see if Respawn decides to put the SMG front and center in the weapon meta or just leave it where it is. The devs may be a little busy right now with a few click bugs or even badge fixes.
