Respawn Entertainment has been working hard to fix the badge since the start of Apex Legends Season 14. Developer Kalyric released the first update five days ago, but developer RobotHavGunz provided more clarity on the situation.
Not all tweaks seem to work when run on live servers and they can’t give out badges, that’s not how the system works. So they are looking for a re-encoding to make statements possible.
RobotHavGunz went further than the original post.
“I have been trying to resolve this issue for the past 6 months. My fix works 100% in our dev environment and 0% live so far. Because we “absolutely” fixed it several times and it didn’t work, we have stopped posting further public messages about this issue. We’re working with a few preds that we know are affected, and once we figure out why it’s not working and get an update, we want them to see if the fix is correct. If they confirm that everything is fine, we will make a bigger announcement. But – as it was – if it was another raid, we avoided disappointing people and failed. At this point, we’re considering a bigger logic rewrite, as it’s unclear why *some* players didn’t get the correct badge and why we couldn’t fix them. Badges are a much more complex system than it looks, so EA Support can’t fully help them. layers. We can’t “give” players these custom badges (due to the way the system is built), but rewriting the badge system to do exactly that seems like the best option.
Players will have to keep waiting for the final patch. At this point, Respawn is more likely to find a way to manually deploy those with the bug.
