Apex Legends fans came across a rather interesting photo of Apex Coins in Season 14. Redditor Prm_mxestal shared a photo of two different prizes. One was for 1000 coins and the other was for 500 coins. Usually buying in bulk is slightly cheaper this way, so buying 1000 coins is actually cheaper than buying two packs of 500 coins each.
But in this case, 500 coins are only $4.99 and 1,000 coins are $11.29, full $1.29 plus tax. This means that it is cheaper to buy 500 coins twice.
The comments were full of Redditors who took the Econ 101 course before skipping it. Theories were everywhere about how business models price their products or the different ways companies try to manipulate you.
The truth is, it’s probably less of a planned event and more likely an error. But Apex Legends doesn’t come cheap as the individual packs and skins have a high selling point. Compared to other Battle Royales or Loot Box games, Apex Legends has the worst drop rates and Heirloom seems like an out of reach item for most players.
