No Apex Legends player will try to convince you that the Alternator SMG is the best weapon in the game. There are too many weapons with better kill time stats or better range. But one thing the Alternator has over every other gun in the game is its low recoil.
This is a user property u/hahatimefor4chan highlighted in a recent post on the Apex Legends subreddit.
“The Alternator is definitely the dormant weapon in Apex. Why isn’t the zero weapon more popular?” they asked. They also gave a clip of them destroying an enemy player with an alternator as proof of their claim.
The subreddit commenters weren’t entirely sure.
“I love it because it perfectly accommodates all the mods I wanted on the R-301 before I found the R-301!” Written by a critic. Another said the pistol’s hip fire at close range was good, but its mid-range accuracy had dropped too much. Others criticized the weapon’s low damage and rate of fire.
Despite these flaws, the Alternator is definitely an important weapon in Apex games.
