An Apex Legends player banned himself and his entire team from a tournament for packing tea

Apex Legends player Dill was disqualified from a recent tournament and banned from all future Legion of Doom competitions for teasing the body of one of his teammates.

The tournament took place yesterday, July 16. In a match between Deeley, his team and their rivals, Deeley took last place – beating both enemy teams and losing to teammate daftwalrus55 in the process. In response, Deeley smothered daftwalrus55 with a teabag, which immediately caught the attention of organizers.

Deeley and his team were immediately disqualified and banned.

It has become a hot topic in the gaming industry and several major publishers have called it back. How were they verbally abused in after-death matches?. Equally shocking were the responses from the ban, who said “players have mellowed”.

Tea wrapping is a form of mockery that has existed in the competitive digital space since time immemorial. It is very likely that every user has experienced it or will experience it at some point in their online career.

This usually involves strangling another player’s corpse until it respawns. It gets its name from the act of simulating tea bags in a drink – or at least that’s the definition of safe for the job.

Some players call it the organizer’s overreaction – including Deeley himself. In a short Twitter threadDeeley described his sudden permanent ban as “unprofessional” and “very stupid”. He urged the Legion of Doom to “make a rule” in a place with no evidence of toxicity.

“The permanent disqualification of the entire team from all future tournaments due to this rule is a complete joke,” he wrote, “My teammate’s fight is in no way toxic and I am not agree with this rule.”

It should be noted that Fate Legion has a sportsmanship element that did not appear in the previous list in the description of the upcoming tournament.

“Players will be friendly and all toxic games will be excluded from chats and matches.” He goes on to explain that the penalty is at the discretion of the administration and specifically lists t-bagging.

There’s been a lot of shouting lately about packing tea to make games a warm space for everyone. Some have even gone so far as to compare it to sexual assault/harassment after horrific incidents on other platforms. Others said the comparison was an insult to survivors.

It is unknown if the actions of the Legion of Doom were a reaction to this confrontation. Other developers more or less objected to this action, replacing it with emotions or making it impossible to implement.

Fate Legion has yet to make a public statement on the situation.
