Respawn Entertainment announces Gaiden event for Apex Legends

Apex Legends fans will have the opportunity to attend a new Gaiden event later this month.

Announced at the event Verified Apex Legends Twitter Account Thursday July 14. Players should prepare for “something exciting” once it arrives, according to the tweet, with over 40 unique “adventure-limited” cosmetics waiting in the wings and the return of Armed Mode and Dangerous.

Here are the things you should pay attention to during Apex Legends’ Gaiden event.

The Japanese word “gaiden (外伝)” itself means “side story” or “tale” and is often used to refer to supporting and/or anecdotal stories of human history. Some call it as a spin-off. It can be seen in many popular Japanese or Japanese franchises such as Naruto, Ninja, and Fire Emblem.

As such, many of the cosmetics in the New ’40s set – like Wattson’s Naruto skin and map and Octane’s One Piece skin and map – clearly reference Japanese media. Others include legendary skins for Mirage and Revenant, weapon skins suitable for some of the more awesome packs, and plenty of listings in the specials tab.

A variety of cosmetics can be unlocked by completing the unique Gaiden Flash Event weekly challenge track, as well as earning Apex and Gaiden Packs. They understand:

Collecting all 40 cosmetic items will unlock the latest Apex Legends Prestige “Apex Commander” Bangalore skin.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the event is the return of Armed and Dangerous – a game mode where the only weapons available are snipers and rifles. Players must either rely on the distance between themselves and their opponents or be prepared to get in close and make sure to kill. The mode will be available during the event with a rotation of maps such as World’s Edge, Olympus, and Storm Point.

Players will be able to experience the Gaiden event this Tuesday, July 19. It will run until August 2 and will give players enough time to complete two unique weekly challenge courses.
