An Apex Legends player has found a way to prevent his teammates from accidentally falling into hostile corrosive traps.
In a post on the Apex Legends subreddit, user Lazer93 posted a suggestion to end players’ issue with caustic traps. One of the playable characters in Respawn Entertainment’s popular Battle Royale game, Caustic can throw traps that damage enemies when they approach or flee. However, it can sometimes be difficult to tell which traps belong to a teammate or friendly caustic and which are opponents.
Lazer93 has an idea to clear up the confusion.
The idea itself is simple. Friendly corrosive traps will be highlighted in blue, while enemy traps will remain red. This way players can check the color of the trap before it approaches.
This idea seemed to be quite popular among players in the responses. A few said that such a situation already exists and that they would be in favor of change. Others wanted to go further and color both the trap and the gas it gave off. This is a big problem on control maps, especially where Caustic often dominates the team composition.
“I played a game where this happened,” wrote Johnny Joesta.
Think it’s mine by shooting the enemy’s caustic trap and hurt my teammates for thinking it was my trap. Then after a few games he hit my traps, he meant it. [enemy’s]”
“Watched 2 different games where one of my teammates shot my traps, he watched me set them,” SteelFuxorz wrote.
Grandmaster Slug wrote, “The whole argument they always make is that Caustics should play alone and allies shouldn’t be encouraged to refuel…The idea of having a teammate blocking team play is stupid. You determine the color of the Watson fence, you determine the caustic. A war read is not bad.

Others called it an unnecessary change and the game already had mechanisms to keep teammates safe. For example, the ping system can be used as a means of reporting friendly and hostile traps. Additionally, players can discover traps on their minimap.
Despite arguments to the contrary, the number of legends who have already received this treatment and their popularity with the player base speaks for itself.
