It’s not unsuccessful. Cómic returns from Barcelona (formerly Salón del Cómic, formerly Ficomics, formerly la nada) and hears the hum of war drums again. For better or worse, they roar instead of roaring percussion when dragged, eaten, exhausted. For those who do well, because they do not have the strength for more and only want to sleep for a week. For those who have had a bad period, because depression reaches the second half-basement of the soul and the current account. When you return from the battlefield there is only black and white, the four colors remain on the paper.
Neither luck nor luck for Comic Barcelona: it comes scrutinized. The fattest event in comics in general. Everything is sold here, inside and out, manga, American comics, manga, dirty keychains that have been in stores for ten years, fanzines, manga and most importantly manga. But not everything goes. No no no. Even if thirty thousand people show up for three days and you get so freaked out you think you can draw something from your little exhibition space. Yes, the organization says there will be a hundred thousand participation, but I say orange, so I understand that we have a technical connection.
The Barcelona you’re in has a lot to do with it, and it depends roughly on how much money you’re willing to spend. It’s not a competition that rewards attention. The bigger and more expensive you are, the more focused and positioned you are, resulting in more visibility and eventual sales. No mystery.
